Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth’s very first Sports Festival titled “Kurukshetra” was Inaugurated on 3rd February 2020. Kurukshetra 2020 has 9 zestful events: the 5’s football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, foot cricket, throwball, table tennis, chess and carrom. The students have been divided into four teams named after the warriors of Kurukshetra: Abhimanyu, Krishna, Arjuna and Drona.
Each team was introduced with an exuberant dance performance which made the event a colourful and memorable one.
They received their team flags from the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nagaraj Neerchal who later addressed the excited gathering. The captains took up the oath for playing the games following the rules and regulations and with the true spirit of sportsmanship. Mr Anish P.S Asst. Director, P.E revealed the Vice Chancellor’s rolling trophy to be awarded to the overall champions Kurukshetra 2020.
Team Abhimanyu and Team Drona locked horns for the first time in the first 5’s football match on an inaugural day. Team Abhimanyu won the game with a thrashing score of 5-0, which marked the end of Day 1 of Kurukshetra 2020. The students are eagerly waiting to be a part of the exciting events lined up for the week.
